Pregnancy, Postpartum & Mental Health: Support for Moms and New Parents

When you're expecting a baby or adjusting to life as a new parent, it's easy to focus on everyone else's needs. But your well-being matters, too.

Many moms experience anxiety, depression, overwhelm, exhaustion, or other emotional challenges during pregnancy and the first year after birth. In fact, about 1 in 5 women experience depression or anxiety during this time, yet many struggle in silence because they worry about being judged or feel they should be able to handle it on their own.

The transition into motherhood, or the experience of pregnancy or infant loss, can be one of the most vulnerable and isolating times in a person’s life. BHN’s Postpartum Pathways program is designed to make sure no one has to navigate that journey alone. “Through compassionate support, skill-building, resource connections, and individualized care, we help women feel seen, build a village, and know that hope, healing, and help are always within reach,” says Stascia Bannon, Program Director.

Whether you need someone to talk to, extra support during a difficult moment, or help navigating the needs of your growing family, support is available. BHN offers services for new and expecting parents at every step, from mental health and crisis support to parenting resources and early childhood services.

It's Okay to Ask for Help

Many moms feel pressure to have everything under control. Others worry they will be judged if they talk about how they're really feeling.

You may benefit from support if you're experiencing:

  • Anxiety, worry, or racing thoughts
  • Depression, sadness, or frequent crying
  • Irritability, anger, or mood changes
  • Feelings of guilt, shame, or hopelessness
  • Distressing or intrusive thoughts
  • Emotional challenges related to pregnancy, childbirth, or loss

Support for Every Step

Every family’s needs are different. That's why BHN offers a range of services for new and expecting parents.

Postpartum Pathways: Pregnancy & Postpartum Crisis Support

If you're pregnant, recently had a baby, or coping with pregnancy or infant loss and need support, the Postpartum Pathways program is here to help. Meet with a clinician in person or virtually for guidance, emotional support, crisis intervention, and connections to ongoing care and resources.

Support is available at every stage of your journey. Whatever you’re facing, you don’t have to navigate it alone. BHN is here to help you and your family find the support you need.
