BHN Marks Grand Opening of Springfield Abilities Learning Center
Expanding Autism Services Across the Region
Program staff and leadership were honored to be joined by community partners and local leaders on January 23 for the grand opening of the Springfield Abilities Learning Center—a new therapeutic space designed to support children and youth with autism through play, connection, and individualized care.
The celebration included a ribbon cutting, guided tours, and remarks highlighting the program’s impact. Attendees included State Representative Carlos González, City Councilor Zaida Govan, and Lamari Jackson, District Director for the Office of Senator Gomez—an important show of support for the vital work BHN teams do every day for families across the region.
Expanding Access to ABA Services
The Springfield opening comes as BHN launches two new Abilities Learning Centers in Springfield and Fall River, both offering immediate openings with no wait times for children and youth under 21 with an autism diagnosis.
At both locations, families can access Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) services designed to help children build communication, social, and daily living skills. Care is available in‑home or center‑based, with therapeutic spaces intentionally designed for comfort and growth, including structured learning areas, opportunities for peer interaction and calming sensory rooms. A grand opening celebration for the Fall River location will take place this spring.
“It’s inspiring to see this center filled with the energy of our community today,” said Matthew Matroni, Program Manager of Applied Behavior Analysis Services at BHN. “We built these spaces so children can feel safe, supported, and empowered to grow, and this grand opening highlights our commitment to providing high‑quality, accessible care for every family we serve.”
