Services to Courts and Jails
Forensic Mental Health Services, a program of
Behavioral Health Network, Inc., provides mental
health expertise to the Courts and some Jails in
Hampden, Hampshire, Franklin, and Berkshire Counties.
Services are funded by the Department of Mental Health, Forensics Division and the jails and are provided to both adult and juvenile populations.

Forensic Mental Health Services at the Hampden County Correctional Center
Forensic Mental Health Services at Adult Court Clinics These services provide statutory mental
health evaluations for the courts in Western Massachusetts. These services include:
- Evaluations of competency to stand trial
- Evaluations for civil commitment of alcoholics and drug dependent persons
- Criminal responsibility evaluations
- Aid in sentencing evaluations
- Consultation and training to Courts and Probation Department
- Probationers’ need for treatment
- Serve as liaison between the Criminal Justice System and the Mental Health System, including public and private hospitals and community agencies
- Expert witness testimony

Forensic Mental Health Services at Juvenile Court Clinics
The Juvenile Court Clinics provide evaluations, consultations and case management to the Juvenile courts in Hampden, Hampshire and Franklin County. In addition, the court clinic staff facilitates groups for adolescents and provides training to doctoral and masters level students.

Forensic Mental Health Services at the Hampden County Correctional Center
Provides mental health assessment, treatment, and crisis intervention and medication clinic services to incarcerated individuals. This includes the Evaluation and Stabilization Unit, which provides psychiatric inpatient and respite levels of care to individuals incarcerated at the Hampden County Correctional Center.
