Services Offered

Detoxification
The Carlson Recovery Center
is a 30-bed, medically monitored, nurse managed
detoxification service for individuals withdrawing from
alcohol and other drugs. Clean-ups for Methadone
maintained individuals needing detox from other substances are also available.

These services are provided 7 days a week, 24 hours a day. Individual and group counseling, treatment planning and continued care planning are also provided. The length of stay varies between 3-7 days depending on the individual need.

Dual Diagnosis
The Dual Diagnosis Program provides detoxification and acute residential services for mentally ill substance abusers who have MBHP or other contracted insurance and meet the criteria for DMH services. These patients receive enhanced detox and acute residential treatment, including Methadone maintenance, psychiatric evaluation, medication and follow-up services, specialized groups and individual treatment.

Intensive Outpatient
The Carlson Recovery Center Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) is an ambulatory substance abuse program which provides short-term, non-residential treatment for individuals needing more than once-a-week therapy. The program operates as a step-down from detox or a step-up from weekly outpatient treatment.

IOP is a group-centered program where individuals work together to maintain sobriety. Individuals who are on methadone maintenance or who have co-occurring disorders are eligible for this program. Individual and family counseling are also available. The clinical program includes psycho-educational and therapy groups as well as Family Night for family and significant others. 

The program operates Monday through Friday and offers afternoon and evening sessions, each of which is four hours.  Care is individualized depending on need and clients attend three to five days a week for three to six weeks, depending on clinical need.  The program has English and Spanish speaking staff. All staff are Master’s level clinicians.
