BHN Crisis Services
BHN Crisis Services is a comprehensive program
designed to respond to individuals experiencing a
crisis related to
a mental illness or substance use.
Services are delivered through a
range of programs
including evaluation services, stabilization services,
outpatient services, and support services. Services
for Crisis Evaluation
Team and Crisis Stabilization
Unit/Respite are paid for by health insurance
plans
and Medicaid. Clients are responsible for co-payments,
where
applicable. Other Psychiatric Crisis services
are funded by the
Department of Mental Health.

Crisis Evaluation Team (CET)
The Crisis Evaluation Teams are credentialed professionals responding 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Areas served include the Greater Springfield, Holyoke, and Chicopee areas and surrounding towns and communities. See below for details. CET services include:
- Telephone Consultation, Information and Referral
- Telephone Support
- Crisis Assessments, delivered at program site, at Emergency Departments, and communities.
- Prescreening for hospitalization
- Interventions for consumers with crisis plans

Crisis Stabilization Unit / Respite Programs (CSU)
Crisis Stabilization Unit/Respite is a 24-hour program designed to provide supervision for psychiatric clients who do not require the intensive medical treatment of a hospital. The CSU Team of Psychiatrist, Psychiatric Nurse and Clinician provide evaluation and medication management, social work and counseling services. Treatment interventions are individually planned with short-term goals. The supportive environment provides a maximum of independence for the client, in a structured community setting.

Warmline
This is a consumer staffed telephone service that offers evening phone support to DMH clients. The Department of Mental Health funds this service.
